Smalll Business Photography - Tattoo Time

Updated: Oct 29

As a photographer I am always trying to promote the importance of having professional photos to showcase who you are and what you do to potential customers. Phone photos are great for daily updates and capturing unexpected moments, because lets face it for many businesses, it wouldn't be practical to have a professional photographer on hand full time, but nothing beats the look of professional photos.

That's why a one off or regular content shoot could prove an invaluable investment. Images from the sessions can be utilized across all your marketing. Whether it is on social media, websites, on printed materials or even to showcase in your workplace. Professional images can give potential customers a real insight to you and your business, and give a more polished and professional look setting you apart from others.

A local business who recently took advantage of a one off shoot was Matheo Tattoos based in Shrewsbury. He wanted photos to show case his studio space and what he does. He also wanted the photos to reflect the decor of the studio with a more dark feel than something too light and airy.

On the day he had arranged two models who were happy to have their sessions photographed. By photographing the two sessions I was able to give a broader range of images and two different perspectives of sessions. As the tattoo placements and designs were different.

I started off by capturing some general studio and business images before the first model arrived. We also had a chat to make sure I knew any key points that I should watch out for and make sure I didn't miss anything. Once the first model had arrived and I explained what I would be doing then I took a more fly on the wall approach capturing the session from the initial consultation chat, right through to the end of the session where the finished artwork was revealed and the after care consultation.

Throughout the session I ensured I took a wide range of images from as many angles as possible so that I could deliver a library of images that could be used for a many different forms of advertising, whether that was specific to a certain procedure/process or something more general covering a broader area. The images are timeless and will be able to be used for many months, even years to showcase a true behind the scenes insight into he business.

After a short lunch break and debrief I set up ready for the second model to arrive. This was a shorter session, and used coloured inks so I concentrated on capturing any aspects that differed from the first session so all the images weren't just duplicated.

Once the sessions were both over we had a brief chat to make sure I had got everything that was needed, once I was confident I had I headed home to start the process of editing. Within a week the images had been fully edited and delivered to the business. Feedback from the owner 'I love them 😍 and this quality is amazing.' 'As I said before. Process of tattooing is not very exciting but you managed to capture and it looks really enjoyable :)' 'I can really see the difference in having professional images'

It has also been great to see the images being used across socials and in his marketing and see the feedback he has received.

I think professional photo shoots can be really beneficial to businesses and this is why I am so passionate about helping people showcase who they are and what they do.

Feel free to drop me a message for an informal chat to discuss your needs and how I can help you.
